My drawing is of my hand holding a flower. I wanted to make the hand and the flower as realistic as possible.
Because my focal-point was the flower, I chose to use watercolour for the flower and pencil for the rest of the drawing to make the flower stand out.
After i had done the flower and the hand, the drawing looked too empty so I decided to add in some plants to make the drawing look more full.
For the flower, I used various shades of pink, purple and yellow. I used a lighter purple for the edge of some of the petals to make it look like the light was hitting it.
I was quite pleased with the final product although the colour of the flower didn’t turn out as well as I had hoped.
If I were to redo this piece, I would go over the hand and the plants in either a darker pencil or a fine liner.
